Around the Sant Antoni Reservoir

Pedalling through the blue and green of the Pre-Pyrenees

The Sant Antoni Reservoir dominates a flat space presided over by the town of La Pobla de Segur. It is surrounded by the reddish sierras of Pesonada and Querol and forms the central axis of this outing. Built at the beginning of the 20th century in order to produce electrical energy, this is one of the largest reservoirs in Catalonia and takes its name from the church that is hidden beneath its waters and whose belfry only reappears during periods of drought.
Belonging to the Pre-Pyrenees, the gentle banks of the reservoir are covered by clearly Mediterranean countryside, in which olive and almond trees play a very important role. The 269 km of the 9 signposted routes from the MTB Centre of El Pallars Jussà will allow you to discover small villages and wide-open landscapes that are dominated by the blue of the reservoir and the green of the neighbouring almond trees. You will be able to choose between more demanding routes and shorter, easier ones according to their technical level and your physical condition.
